In September 2014, I taught a class at Stanford’s Institute of Design (d.school) called Prototyping SF. In it, we taught teams about public space design and interaction/experience design. I was part of a 3 person team: myself, Kevin Hsu, and Margaret Hagan.
We had the students do a sample intervention on Stanford campus, then we spent a day in downtown SF where we did user research and on-the-street prototyping and testing to get to promising ideas.
Our class participants were aiming to create designs to submit to Market Street Prototyping Festival in San Francisco. The city government was seeking design proposals for civic designs to be established for 3 days in April 2015 and live on Market Street. Two of the projects from the class were accepted to be a part of MSPF.
